Mayor of Sardis City
|
|
Kenneth Brand
|
Kenneth Brand is now serving
in his second term as mayor. He began serving the citizens of Sardis City
as a newly elected council member on October 6, 1980. He was originally
appointed over the recreation department but served most of his years serving
as the Police Commissioner. He had the responsibility of being the mayor
pro tem during his entire 20-year term as councilman. He was elected Mayor
in August of 2000. Because Mayor Brand has always wanted to see Sardis
City grow to its full potential, it has been a natural progression to see
him move from councilman to mayor. In July, Mayor Brand was presented
with a 20-year service award by the League of Municipalities for his dedication
to public service. His desire to see Sardis City continue to make advances
toward being a first choice location for businesses and families alike
is still his primary goal. |

Place 3
Roy Humphries
|
Councilman Roy Humphries
was elected to his second term as councilman in 2004. Before serving on
the Council, Mr. Humphries worked for Sardis City in the maintenance department
for approximately 20 years. Over the years, Roy Humphries has been
called on by countless people in the community to lend a helping hand beyond
what was expected of him as a city employee. Mr. Humphries gladly went
that extra mile because of his dedication to his job and more importantly
his love for the people of Sardis City. Councilman Humphries is an icon
of Sardis City who has in the past and continues to want to see Sardis
City be a progressive and sought after place to call home. |

in accounting and management has been an important asset to the council
in every area of city business. Mr. Stephens has served the majority
of his time on the council as Police Commissioner. The safety and well-being
of the citizens of Sardis City is a high priority for Councilman Stephens.
He continues to work diligently toward maintaining a high level of professionalism
and competence within the police department. |

Place 5
Russell Amos
|
Councilman Russell Amos
is now serving in his second term as a city council member. The recreation
department continues to be an obvious area for Councilman Amos to serve
in due to his past and current involvement with the ball teams in Sardis
City. In the past, Russell has served as president of girls’ softball and
has been involved in Dixie Youth baseball through his son’s participation
in that program. He is in close contact with many in the community who
are interested in seeing our recreation department grow. His hands-on experience
lends valuable insight into the needs and practical solutions that are
needed to help our recreation department move forward and continue to grow. |
